The Way It Was

The Way It Was, 2006 concrete and bronze 8 sculptures each 4' x 5' x 2' El Camino Real and Matilda Avenue, Sunnyvale, Ca

This sculpture tells the story of Yvonne Olson Jacobson's family who farmed this site and the surrounding area, but the story starts thousands of years ago with the native Ohlone population and proceeds through to Sunnyvale developing into what it is today, Silicon Valley. The eight artworks are mounted on two inclined walls and a ninth element is a central pedestal sculpture under an arbor.
